Group Therapy
What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy is based on the idea that people benefit from shared experiences and support. Usually, a group is focused on a particular issue, (like depression, anxiety or anger management), but groups can also be made up of individuals at similar life-cycle stages (e.g. Teens or New Moms etc.) and may cover a broad range of topics. One of the main principles of group counseling is that talking and interacting in a group can help in reducing the isolation that often comes from mental health and life-cycle stage challenges. It is common for children & teens (and many adults) to feel hesitant and resistant initially to the idea of group therapy, but I have found that they almost always like group once they are used to attending.
